Urban Games is working hard to further improve Transport Fever, with a particular focus on performance optimization. However, in order to achieve a real performance boost, some fundamental changes and therefore more development time is needed.
To bridge the waiting time, we decided to release a convenience patch as a next step. The patch aims to make your player’s life easier by introducing several usability enhancements.
As a main feature, the patch brings a scalable user interface and therefore better support for 4k resolutions. Thanks to new fully-functional scroll bars, handling user interface components such as the line manager will be much easier. Also, the mod selection dialog in the main menu and the autosave feature have been improved. A range of additional small improvements and bug fixes complete the patch.
The patch will be available for beta testing starting on October 11 and is scheduled to be officially released at the end of October.
Be assured we won’t stop our efforts, and we are confident to be able to release a major performance patch in the near future.

Haa, seit Wochen warte ich auf ein Lebenszeichen. Hab letztens erst alle Mods runtergeschmissen und mal aufgeräumt und wieder jeden Tag hier reingeschaut. Und zack, da ist es, das Lebenszeichen. Super das ihr die Performance noch im Blick habt. Lass euch auch ruhig noch etwas Zeit, aber vielleicht solltet ihr uns einfach regelmäßiger informieren wie der Stand der Dinge ist. Dann kochen die Gemüter nicht so hoch.
Dann freu ich mich schon mal auf den übernächsten Patch.

Hab nach Monaten mal wieder reingeschaut.Immer noch der selbe Mist. Mann gibt Flache Landschaft ein und kriegt Berge. Was versteht ihr nicht an flache Landschaft.Und wenn ich den Zug vom Bahnhof1 Gleis 4 über eine Weichenstrasse im Bahnhof 2 auf Gleis 1 fahren lassen will funktioniert das vorne und hinten nicht.
Hast du es mal mit Wegpunkten versucht,? Damit sollte es eigentlich immer funktionieren! Also ich hatte nie solche Probleme. Wenn die Route nicht meinen Vorstellungen entspricht baue ich Wegpunkte und passe die Route an.
Urban Games ihr macht es genau so, wie es jeder Hersteller tun sollte! Community ist einfach wichtiger als das Geld!
Ein geiles Spiel und es wird nicht langweilig! Macht weiter so und ich bin gespannt was ihr noch so neues rausbringt! <3
TpF has got a lot of improvements, really far more playable, less a tech demo now. Now I would say I feel quite alone in the game, so, considering AI not in plans, at least the event system should be improved. As for now, it says to the player about new models and old vehicles in use. I would feel less alone if I get massages not related with my activity and in the form of news paper. For instance, ‘The X City has reached … level” or “New technology soon into the transport” (you can use real world historical headers here or tell some tech info. I would like to be warned about unit disappear from market in a few months. Headers like ‘Line X stood for days in the traffic jam” would be cool. Make a brainstorm for more ideas for the news paper system. And the most important: make a log journal for every massage in the game so I could re-open it if skipped for any reason. Thanks for TpF, Urban Games.
Oh, and I want to get back to previous tool automatically when I quit the bulldoze tool – a little but very useful feature it would be.
I would really like to see this implemented. There’s waaay to much clicking in the game.
If they include a ‘Railroad Tycoon’ style newspaper, I hope they include an option to turn it off. It is a silly idea
Glad to hear that you haven’t abandoned the work at TpF! There is a biggest shortcoming for me is the lack of timetables or some kind of unbunching for passanger trains. There is often a situation when 4-5 trains follow each other with the short interval thus making lines less profitable beacause on the other side of the line a huuge amount of passengers are waiting!
This is what I am posting here every time 🙁 That situation is quite frustrating, because you must adjust the trains every few minutes….
I usually am ok with the autospacing of trains (either after a while or using signals they space evenly out … but I often use separate double tracks for each line as they are cheap and have no maintenance costs), but I agree that this would be really a nice addition! It would also allow to synchronize trains at some stations to allow passengers to switch routes like in real life 🙂
I don’t know how or even if proper schedules could be implemented, but at the least wouldn’t it be possible to allow selection of options like syncronizing to frequency (e.g. one train départs exactly the frequency time after the last one) or to increment the auto-spacing waiting time ?

Oh, but the way timetables are implemented in openttd is a chore (in my opinion) and I’d prefer a much easier way of doing that. If that system would be implemented I would still prefer the automatic auto-spacing already in the game.
Yes, it is a little bit chore. But it can be improved. It can calculate times automaticaly and you just add days to the lenght of the route..
I would prefer two options. One is automaticaly Auto-spacing or if you click on advanced button, than you will get something like in OpenTTD but improved 🙂

That is something you can easily do yourself place down signals hmm. they work great and keep the trains rolling spacing signals are quick easy and well, it very simple much simpler then all the code they’d have to add and all the new bugs they’d install by doing that.. play the game hmm
If you have many lines which share some part of the route, than it causes dalay. Your solution can be made on one route, whre the only one line is operating.
Another campaign would be nice, or at least a walkthrough on how they can be created.
I agree! So far I don’t think there are campaigns available on the workshop. I would really love to have a few campaigns which are actually challenging and maybe force me to focus on service to the cities instead of profit maximization 🙂
Agreed! I don’t believe things like AI competition or timetables are appropriate for this type of game but I would love to see some more campaigns or scenarios.
I think of the variety of “re-imagined” worlds that were created by modders for Civilisation; new worlds, new assets, new technology trees – some of which so reworked the game configuration they were practically whole new games in themselves!
Imagine expanding the campaign quests, adding historically related events that changed key variables like freight costs or passenger numbers, add in whole new industry changes, perhaps even disasters.

Any chance of the text field being automatically blanked when the player goes to rename something? Annoying to have to backspace the existing name each time!
It is already there since the last patch.
gcampono is right. When you click rename, you can then just start typing and the current text will be deleted.
Es wäre schön, wenn es neue Kampagnen und konkrete Aufgaben geben würde. Ich habe alle Medaillen erzielt und inzwischen wird das freie Spiel doch etwas langweilig.
Da bin ich auch deiner Meinung. Finde die Kampagnen schon sehr cool – vielleicht könnte man noch ein Tool einbauen, so dass jeder Kampagnen erstellen und Teilen kann? Sonst mit Mods wird das normale Spiel eigentlich fast nie langweilig. Einige Mods sind sehr gut und könnten von mir aus gleich ins Standardspiel aufgenommen werden.
Alles in allem nochmals danke für eure Arbeit es ist das Beste Spiel auf dem Markt! 😉

One-way roads (and ramps) would greatly improve the playability of the game!
In real life, motorways and other access-controlled roads (with one-way on-ramps and off-ramps) are built so as to avoid trucks going through cities or getting stuck in traffic. They are an important part of traffic and logistics management.
and something similar to the Treansport Manager : President Edition in Cities Skylines where every individual node can have its behaviours changed
By the way… could we get an ingame map editor (some more powerful tools to alter terrain, place cities, industries and save maps etc.) ? Even better if in addition to the map editor we would get a scenario editor (to put goals, conditions etc.)… pretty pretty please 🙂 ?

Wenn ich da Streamer sehe mit einem i7 7700k ne Geforce 1080ti und das ruckelt immer noch wie Hölle….
Das Spiel hat mich wirklich begeistert am Anfang aber diese Monatslaggs und die Standbilder ohne ende dämpfen das Spielvergnügen erheblich.
In meinen Augen helfen da auch keine kleinen “Umprogrammierungen” genauso wie es nicht möglich ist mit Flugzeugen Anständig ins + zu kommen…. und noch viele weitere Kleinigkeiten..
Soll jetzt auch kein “hate” ich habe das Spiel am Anfang wirklich Tagelang gezockt bin bei 600h +

I think you guys are fucking heroes for continuing this like you are… it was a great game back on release day and has only got better.
With the mod support provided and the great modding community to back it up it will keep me coming back for years.
Multicore and auto double tracking would be great additions. Timetables would be good, but I guess we’d need passing places and ‘clever’ line signals.
I would also like larger amount/lower interest loans, like the UK government give (lol), as the start of the game can be rather slow i find unless you only use point to point lines…
You guys moaning about the 1st reply being in German should be ashamed of yourselves. The irony of the # is ridiculous.
if i may say this which admittedly is far ahead at the moment I assume but it would be quite nice for wheelslip to be added for realistic trains possibly as a option to include it in the main menu but I will say in regards to this patch it would help to have higher FPS and a scaleable user interface would help people with a 4k resolution and such… now back to the top of this comment I quite honestly find it strange that you can have a train like a 100 wagons long with no wheeslip and only going slowly up hills which also brings me to the next bit if wheelslip is put in you can have bankers/helpers which are probably still quite far ahead and connecting in to another comment would work quite well with time tables and the like but possibly could you add different economy states example (the great depression) in either the European economy or American economy with the respective times for the great depression (1929) till when it ended and such

Es ist wirklich frustrierend zu sehen, wie das Game einen High-End-Rechner zu nicht mal 20% auslastet (sowohl GraKa als auch CPU) und selbst auf kleinen Maps mit kleinen Städten nicht ansatzweise 60 fps gehalten werden.
Das Spiel macht so viele Dinge nahezu perfekt, dass ich nicht verstehe, warum dem Team ausgerechnet die Performance so völlig egal zu sein scheint.
Also nehme ich an, das man um Zeit und Geld zu sparen, einfach die alte Train-Fever-Engine etwas erweitert hat und nochmal als Vollpreistitel verkauft. Nicht sehr nett…
100% Zustimmung. Ich verstehe auch nicht die ganzen Fanboys hier. Spielen die gerne mit 5 FPS oder reicht denen ein “Verkehrssystem” mit 5 Linien?
Schon vor Release wurde eine stark verbesserte Performance versprochen und jetzt ein Jahr später ist das Spiel immer noch in einem erbärmlichen Zustand bezogen auf Performance/Multithreading.
Es ist ja schön das die Entwickler versuchen das Problem zu lösen. Da aber fast nur Designer bei Urban Games arbeiten werden wir darauf noch lange warten dürfen. Statt eines funktionierenden Lategames wird es wohl wieder sinnlose, rein visuelle DLC’s (USA Trainfever) geben. Ein drittes mal lass ich mich von euch nicht verarschen!
Spitze! Leider ist die Stahlwerkproduktion nicht optimal eingestellt. Obwohl genug Abnehmer und Zulieferanten vorhanden sind, zeigt die Stahlwerkproduktion “keine Linie vorhanden” an. Das stimmt nicht! Hier muss noch dringend gearbeitet werden, da sonst meine Linien stehen bleiben und nichts produzieren. Alle anderen Produktion funktionieren gut.
Stahlwerke sollten einwandfrei funktionieren. Du kannst uns gerne eine E-Mail schicken mit ein paar Screenshots oder dem Savegame, dann können wir uns anschauen, was schief geht.

If your truly talking convience, then allow the player to divide up who gets the load. That would be the biggest one, second allow all shops to be independent. so that one farm can send grain to a plastic producer and not find itself competing with the one that was handling food. Because of the swtich back to auto select as a choice for the route, you will find the one that was shipping food suddenly millions in the hole, beacase it is busy sending grain to the producers for the other plant shurking it duty to the food procution and ruining all the trucks handling anything to get it there.. it so stupid it makes me scream at times.. I had a 5 million dollar food route go up in smoke all because on the other side of the map I had a farm sending grain to a plastics producer. and I didn’t see it becuause I was engrossed in laying new track to bring new trains on line.. and the AI is simply incapable of handling the simplesst tasks of splitting where the stuff goes, it seems to always send way to much to one and nothing to very little to the rest, its dumb pumpkins.. that would be added benifit to the game, if the player handled that spliting and free the AI up.. allow vehicles where you can choose several types of production it can load and nothing else. I’m so tired of find 6 meat or 4 tools taking up 50 spaces on a wood and planks haul.. its a pain reduces the game to less then fun as it is now. many of the routes you just can’t afford to let them run empty or deadhead to a point. But the AI is wrecking it. by the way it works, its not fun at all its a chore.. Most of the vehicles are unaffordable if you only haul one fixed good, but that is how you made this game. so you have to use auto haul to make a profit or go broke.. but Auto haul is totally borked..
Es gibt ein paar Dinge, die mich jetzt schon seit dem Release extrem stören:
– Warum werden die Einstellungen im HUD-Filter nicht mitgespeichert? Nach jedem Laden des Spiels muss man die fummeligen Icons wieder auf den gewünschten Status klicken.
– Warum werden alle Objekte sofort optisch markiert, wenn man nur mit der Maus drüber fährt? Dies sollte erst beim drauf klicken passieren. Beobachtet man die Szene aus den Zugperspektiven, poppen momentan ständig irgendwelche Objekte auf.
-Warum muss man bei automatischem Ersetzen eines Zuges jedesmal den kompletten Zug noch einmal zusammen stellen? Warum kann man nicht einfach den aktuell vorhandenen Zug mit einem Klick auf automatisch zu ersetzen setzen?
– Warum baut die KI Häuser entlang von Brücken hoch?? Erstens gibt es an Brücken keine direkt angrenzenden Gebäude und zweitens wird dadurch der/die/das darunter liegende Fluss/Straße/Gleis oft mit überbaut!
– Warum kann man die Kamera nicht bis auf den Boden manövrieren und warum kann man nicht nach oben gucken?
So schön es wäre, wenn das Eine oder Andere korrigiert werden würde, kümmert euch bitte zuerst mal um die gruselige Performance.

Ach übrigens, wenn ihr beim nächsten Update eine Funktion einbauen könntet, mit der man veraltete Fahrzeuge mehrerer Linien auf einmal ersetzen könnte, wäre das ganz toll!
I also agreed that you are doing excellent job by opening more and more doors so community can built more and more stuff which makes this game really attractive to those who just like to play it for pleasure after long day at work. The idea of having some kind of scenario editor without the need to write any scripts, would be really lovely. Would it be possible to invest money directly into the towns, like to spend let’s say couple of milions to build some residential, industrial or commercial buildings?
Usability is not a well defined thing, but I think better control of autosaves is a very useful step in the right direction for a game which is prone to sudden crashes. Framerates are not really a usability issue until they get down to 15, this is after all not a twitch shooter.
Making better use of the hardware is desirable, but something I expect for a performance release. Making use of all CPU cores and installed memory is very desirable, more than 4 cores and 16GB RAM is moving into the mainstream.
The areas I really think could do with some improvement is simulation quality and realism. Shunting, schedules, a “real time” mode to set up schedules and try out things, and realistic construction and procurements (deliveries and construction takes time and need to be planned ahead) are very desirable.

Eure Trailer zeigen riesige Städte ohne den geringsten Ruckler. Ich behaupte mal, dass aufgrund der aktuellen Architektur kein PC dieses Planeten das in Echtzeit rendern kann. Offensichtlich seit Ihr Euch des Problems also durchaus bewusst, sonst würdet Ihr ja einfach Ingame-Szenen veröffentlichen. Also wird hier anscheinend ganz bewusst getäuscht, was die Performance des Spiels angeht.
Mein Dank geht trotzdem an all die Modder, die Unmengen an Zeit in all die Modelle und Erweiterungen investiert haben.
