  2. I have to say that the hype train is currently moving at a speed of infinete hype!!!
The game looks increadeble! The graphic is amazing! And all the new features were needed!
    It! Is! Amazing!

  3. Echt Toll!!

I am with exactly the same question as you are! I expect that you can create external flight routes, because it would be ridiculous to run a 200km flight with a Concorde or B757 – although this would be a dramatically huge map!

  4. My immediate thought is that game-play looks so much… smoother when compared to Train Fever. And the UI is beautiful, not just functional. I haven’t been this excited for a game for a long time, I’m sure others feel the same!

Ansonsten, macht weiter so…

  8. Looks really good! Please consider colour-blind options, as the green and yellow (commercial and industrial ) overlays are impossible to tell apart. There maybe a few other colour issues as well, but please give option to customise some of the colours if no colour-blind mode?

  9. I am absolutely stunned by the upcoming Transport Fever! It was all the same feeling back in 2014 when Train Fever was about to be released. But now – just look at all the possibilities! Compared to Train Fever upcoming game now looks so promising and the frustrations of previous game are all gone. You have come far in the development of a transport simulation genre. It was really nice to see the change you’ve made. Looking forward to awesome gaming experience, thank you Urban Games and keep up the good work!

  10. Wirklich tolle Leistung!

  12. What an exciting beta video !! Can’t wait to play this game ! I already a TrainFever’s FAN, i want to thank you developers to make this new Transport Fever !
As a french guy i hope it will be some official French DLC or french vehicles, because our trains are just beautiful !

  13. Aside from the obvious additions of planes/ships, this video doesn’t actually feel like it’s showing much beyond a tuned-up Train Fever. That said, if that’s all Transport Fever ends up being, I think I’ll be happy… provided there’s additional control over map generation. I’d REALLY like to see the details of what map sizes/dimensions are possible, and whether there’s greater emphasis on maps with coastlines and large bodies of water this time, rather than just rivers. It really all hinges on that for me.

    • I felt the same when I first watched the video, so I went through it and tried to list off all of the changes that it showcases. Here’s what I came up with:

      > new GUI
      > improved graphics
      > trains make braking sounds as they slow down [still no bell ringing as they cross streets]
      > no more „leisure“ buildings; industrial is now yellow in overlay
      > each station has a „catchment area“ which the player can see when the station is selected
      > stations and industries windows now have a „Charts“ tab. The video doesn’t show what this tab does
      > stations and depots can be upgraded after construction
      > construction which would interfere with existing buildings automatically demolishes the buildings (user is shown in advance that this will happen)
      > depot/station placement is more flexible (player can vary distance from the adjoining road)
      > Bus depot vehicle list separates passenger and freight vehicles (I forget whether this was in TF)
      > From a depot’s menu, it is possible to create a new line; all stored vehicles are assigned to this line
      > vehicle colours can be changed at any time (individual vehicle, or entire line)
      > sound effects while dragging track for placement (I forget whether this was in TF)
      > a station placed near the end of an existing rail line will attempt to align itself with the track
      > new cargo types
      > wagon and vehicle cargo specification can be set as „Automatic“
      > industries produce their first cargo *before* the first vehicle shows up to collect it (unclear whether this begins when a route is created or when a vehicle is assigned to the route)
      > cargo transport from station to factory appears to be instant
      > cargo transport from factory to station appears to be instant; cargo appears to wait at the factory, rather than at the station
      > industry icons in the overworld show both inputs and outputs ( AB > C rather than just C )
      > boats and planes
      > Main connections: player can break them, towns will complain; unclear what the penalty is if they are not fixed promptly

I also came across two things which I think the video *may* have shown, but can’t be sure about:

At 4:45, it look as though there may be fewer barriers to modifying track while trains are running over it
At 5:30, it appears as though it’s possible to build a level crossing closer to an intersection than it was in TF

I’ll also add that, if you watch carefully during track construction, you can see all of the following warnings appear:

      > „Too much curvature“
      > „Not enough space“
      > „Collision“
      > „Terrain alignment collision“

…so, although it may occur less frequently than they did in TF, it looks like „Terrain alignment collision“ hasn’t been eliminated entirely.

To summarize: Transport Fever looks like an evolution of Train Fever, not a revolution. I am still interested in playing, but I would have preferred to see more effort dedicated to improving playability through new features like a planning tool, more system-level management information, and more map generation options.

      • The Lack of Bell Ringing is because many trains in Europe Don’t need it Purely because the barriers Block the traffic from entering the tracks.

😀 looks good though i am definitely preordering it in the morning

Sehr geil!

Da wird man ja zum Fanboy *zwinka*

  15. The amount of work done with the new release is insane! I’m loving all the new options and features. It’s a complete expansion.

The map size is going to be a key factor in utilizing planes, so I’m hoping to see much larger maps available.

As @dan mentioned above, expanded coastlines and large bodies of water will be nice to see. Hopefully even the ability for „off-world/map“ interaction such as Planes or Boats delivering randomly to the map.

Very excided to see how this plays out in the next month or so, and looking forward to the release! Already purchased 🙂

      • The problem with massive maps is (like in TrainFever) still the distribution of industries. In the old game they could easily be too far apart to have working lines and now we have even more different industries.

        • Surely that’s entirely an issue of balancing the game mechanics? It doesn’t make any sense to justify map size limits based on large maps breaking the cargo system – if that was the case, the solution would be to rework the mechanic so it worked well, not limit the map size.

  16. Great I will be able to play it on both Linux and Windows. Like many Linux users I have both Linux and Windows 7 on my HD. This enables dual booting. Being able to play a game natively on any OS you use is always best. I just hope the Linux version is of high quality. What most Windows only gamers don’t usually know is that if ported properly a Linux version often times will out perform its Windows version! Unfortunately most ports aren’t done that well. Of]
course a lot of that is because the Linux version doesn’t make enough money to justify that much work. Don’t forget word of mouth. If Linux users like it, they tell there friends who use Windows and sales of the Windows versionincrease!

Danke Urban Games!!!

  18. I really wish placing objects would automatically smoothen the terrain. After placing the airport, we can see the usual ugly terrain borders again- in Train Fever it sometimes was annoying or straight impossible to truly even them out manually. It’s just a tiny visual thing, but still.

    • I agree, it should maintain the same embankment slopes that laying track does… so it looks like a cutting rather than the typical stretched polygon artefacts you get from having too sharp a transition in heightmapped terrain.

  21. I have wanted a modern version of locomotion for years now with no good fits. I think this has the potential to fill that gap. I am hoping the modding community get behind this and give us the extra content for more realism (long runways, tube trains industry depth etc). I would have liked to see some form of multiplayer though. Not on the same map but being able to send lines out of map and intergrate with a frineds map, especially planes.
Well done dev’s. i cant wait.

  22. I have two questions:
Firstly: What is the minimum angle required for a level crossing? I have had some issues in train fever where i had to put additional curves into the track in order to accomodate a level crossing.
Secondly: How large a map can we expect to see in transport fever? Is it going to be square or are other shapes allowed?

  23. Make emphasis on the machine from the last version of the game was a mistake. In the world of a great history of transport in each country has its own unique trains, ships, airplanes, and you insert a standard set of trains from the last game. In all other respects I am happy that you are moving forward and have already bought your product. I hope that the optimization will be good, but in the video image etc.

  24. Its is a very nice gameplay video! I can see, the game contains a lot of new and very usefull stuffs.
I hope this „2.0“ version after the Train Fever will be more popular, and you can create some expansions or any good things in this game.
    Thank you guys!

  25. I absolutely love the gameplay trailer. I am very excited about the game and already preordered it. The cities look great and much more lively compared to Train Fever.

I do have a few questions though

Is it possible to raise the terrain around stations, tracks, roads so that there is better and nicer looking terrain surrounding them, instead of the high slopes and the need for the demolishing of the tracks or road to make it flat like it was needed in Train Fever.

In the gameplay video i see the same signaling and waypoint system being used as in Train Fever, will this remain in the final version or are there plans on adding some.
I would love to see a little more of the signalling of train lines, for example, the use of multi colour aspects, red, yellow, green or like in the UK red, yellow, double yellow, green, depening of the sections infront of the train being occupied.

Also i would like to know if it is possible to build one way tram lines or bus lines to make more realistic and better looking terminals or loops.

Cannot wait to play this game!!

  27. Will there be a way to use mods from Steam in the GOG version? I know it’s possible to manually download mods for some games whose mod systems aren’t completely tied to the Steam architecture, i.e. just using it for download purposes to a universal mod folder of sorts.

  28. Great video.
Really looking forward to play this game.
Hope it will not have the same bugs that Train Fever had. But what is great we can finally have X cross tracks.

Hmm so little time but so many great games will come in Nopvember….

  31. Na da braucht man wirklich nicht lange überlegen – gesehen gekauft und gewartet. 🙂 Also was man in den Videos sieht: Ein sehr würdiger Nachfolger.

  32. Looking fantastic! I have been eagerly awaiting this game and it looks as though you have really outdone yourselves. I appreciate the loyalty discount, not enough companies recognise their loyal fans in this way.

Needless to say I will be picking this up immediately. I look forward to your future products, whatever they may be. Good luck on the upcoming release and your future endeavours.

  33. A game i was really looking forward to until i saw the gameplay vid. Its a TF update…
The UI interface still looks very like a elaborate process. Lots of mini screens opening up, lots of mouse clicks. So just like TF it looks user unfriendly (the reason i quit plaing TF).
Another major nogo was the airport placement. Apperently you still need a relative flat surface to put down buildings which means that its not dome to build next to eachother at the same height. The rectangle height differential at the corners of the airport structure reveals that nothing changed on the terrain behaviour….

  34. I’m impressed, everything you said you would do you have done from what I can see so far.

And with an offer to reward purchasers of train fever with 25% discount is fantastic.

Please for the next game try to see if a multiplayer version could be done in some form, I would love to see that. Would also be willing to pay more up to £29.99 for a multiplayer feature in the distant future.

Feel almost bad paying so little for something with so much work done.

Well done to the whole team 🙂

    • Paying 29.99£ for such good product isnt bad. Its good. Game is at „decent“ price and as game is so good, more people pay reasonable price rather then overprice. Which end up with extra profit 🙂

  35. Please include stations upon request (bedarfhaltestelles)! If someone wants to get of or onf from/to bus or tram, the bus or tram will stop otherwise it will continue without stop. Those selections like load if available (any/all) was unusable in train fever. Whereas it blocked the platform and it start to ruin the 20 minute rule, thus production of factories got lower immediately! Btw..how is it with 20 minute rule in transpotrt fever? ha?

  36. It’s amazing! New stations, aircrafts, ships and fixes many bugs of train fever. Change the colors for transports it’s cool! Already pre-order in first day!)

    But I have some questions:

    – Will be russian language?

    – Will in game a one-way roads? It’s necessary to build a multi-level crossings roads.

    – What about a signals for trains? It’s very important for realism in the game.

    – Can add a point for buses like for trains? It’s help to plan a long routes more correctly.

Sorry for mistakes and thank you for this beautiful game!

  37. I am very much looking forward to this release.
Something that I just thought of that might not yet be implemented though, is a minimum curvature for rolling stock. The track already has a minimum curvature, but a steam locomotive with a long wheelbase, like the Big Boy that is included here, needs a much larger minimum turning radius than a shorter locomotive, like a 4-4-0. In the vlogs that I’ve seen so far, there hasn’t been any mention of this. But now I can send my Big Boy up the steep and extremely curvy slope of my lumber line (and no, that’s not a good thing)…

  38. Looks like a game for small kids. Where is the simulation aspect if everything sort of builds itself just by clicking and dragging and vehicles plan their own schedule? Wherein lies the challenge?

    • I have a good question …

How is it possible we may have difficulty in growing a company if that company is the only transportation company in the world ???
Can we really imagine that each citizen will take his car to go to shop directly at the factory ?

  40. Oh man…

  41. Thank You Devs for will to create game on resemblance of brilliant Transport Tycoon. After 20 years of gaming I don’t see better game than that. When I’ve seen first gameplay of Transport Fever I knew I will buy this game. I see that game has potential to be compared to perfect product made by legendary Microprose.

I wish You all the best and keep it up!

  42. Wow, I like how You added trabies and beetles as cars in towns. How is the performance in comparison with train fever Are there some CPU usage modifications? I dont have a problem with my graphic card performance, but it was a bit processor laggy in train fever? Some multicore optimisations etc?

  43. Hallo,

    Dominik

  44. Well, Last time, I got Trainfever on KickassTorrent, because I wouldn’t have paid for a transportation game, then I’ve found this game so much amazing that when there was a discount on steam, to get the game at 10€ I just bought it to encourage the studio. Today, I was thinking, well seeing all the improvements and the work done on this game, at I would buy it for 25€. Here we are : the game is 24 € with the 25% discount so I bough it !

Thanks for making this game accessible ! I’m impatient to play it ! 🙂

  48. Has the frequent traffic jam issue been looked at?

I’ve read in one of the post Tom saying ‚managing private vehicle is not the goal of this game‘ and I agree but they (and the big trailer trucks) often cause traffic jams. So please take care of that before you release the game. I don’t want to spend 100 hours to build a map only to quit playing it because of the constant traffic jams. I don’t particularly care how you take care of it (I mean whether it’s one-way or way points or functional traffic signals {best option – I think}) but please just take care of it.

I’m really looking forward to the game but simply cannot forget the frustration of TrainFever.

I’m sold too.
