More info on the upcoming performance patch

We have been working very hard, and finally there is good news. Our developers have realized some fundamental changes to the game engine, and the performance patch will be ready for takeoff soon.

The patch improves both simulation and rendering performance, leading to higher frame rates and a more fluent game on all systems. In addition, stuttering due to monthly calculations or camera movement has been addressed.

Because of the heavy changes, beta testing before official release is of utmost importance. Beta testing is scheduled to start on Wednesday, April 18. Details about how to switch to the beta branch can be found >in the Wiki<.

Transport Fever is still very popular on Steam and other platforms, and the whole Urban Games team looks forward to releasing this major patch soon!

  1. Super.

  2. hofffentlich bringts auch was…

    i7 6700k

  4. Awesome work, UG.

There is something still awaits your attention. Please, consider this.

Allow us to rotate builbings with mouse.
Allow us to disable shadows, water reflections and particles.
Forbid buildings from growing from tunnel walls, creating deep terrain holes.
Add traffic lights, footbridges, pedestrian underground crossings, one-way roads, pedestrians-only walkways. May be as DLC.
Make railroad X-crossing as proper track upgrade, not as free toggle.
Make semi trucks change their semi-trailers by the type of their current cargo. Or even may be add ordinary changeable trailers to trucks.

    Thank You for your work!

  9. Hi Teams,

I really appreciate your time and efford to update this with the latest patch.
If I can give some inputs to be considered in the further updates:
    – add option to place traffic lights and road signs on the road, especially in the junction to make the effective traffic flow and bring safety to pedestrians
    – have an option to change the street name
    – have a one way street / road
    – have a tramway path only to avoid any cars queuing at the back
    – a carpark on the train station and the bus station
I also find a little issue at the railroad crossing with tram lane. In some cases, the tram poles appear in the midle of the 4 railways. I do not know if this have been identified as an issue in the previous patch. But I see it quite funny. I hope you can updated this too.
Thank you for your hard work. Keep it up!

  10. Please fix this game because it is literally U N P L A Y A B L E
It has like 0.00000001fps and constantly loading loading loading…
    It is CANCER. Thank you!

    • What you don’t understand, is that the game slows down because of the CPU, not the GPU. Graphically this game is actually quite light, and the bottlenecking happens on CPU level, where it has to calculate each and every human being in the game, which influences the entire game.

Apparently, the game only uses a single core on CPUs, and no CPU currently available is able to cope with the amount of data calculation required at late game.

    • I see some are unpleased with 30 fps. There are 30FPS when a city is in the frame, indeed. But both CPU and GPU stay cool (about 40C) which is great. For instance, while running Cities Skylines, my PC goes hot and fans turn faster and louder. I like TrF devs approach more.

    • Wow!

  17. The line manager window appears too far to the left when the interface scale is set to 125% jr more (\t least at 1366x768p). And by the way (sorry for a strange notice) city noise has too many car signaling. It is so annoying when 400+ hours in TrF in total…

  19. The APR30 beta update is the best so far in my case (i5-3570K (4 threads), year 2050, 25 cities, no mods and camera placed at a corner of the map). It is 60-53-60 FPS monthly lag. If the camera is placed close to a city, it’s 33 FPS then. I think, if a perfect FPS is not possible, the current attempt is a good progress.

    • Just watched FPS over the city in the current stable version – it is around 24 FPS. So the APR30 beta boosts ~37% more FPS in the same location (33 FPS). That is a notable improvement.

    Weiterhin viel Erfolg

  21. I Love the game is so addictive and unique there is just some things missing so i decided to give you my feedback for you to consider.

first I have a easy request could you unlimited the time travel of cars to more than 180 second so you can have more space between towns rather than just 10 sq km that way players would be able to have cars traveling in the countryside even when there is a lot of distance between towns that gives a more realistic gaming experience.
Also i would ask you to have a 4 connecting roads on through stations 2 in each side, since is a bit unfair that a station with 320 meters have the same caption area as a station with 80m the 4 connections would solve this.
Longer runways in Airports this is special unrealistic experience for example the Concorde was a runway requirement of up to 3600m its rely painful to see it taking off on a landing strip of 300 m or 720 m in the case of the bigger airport, I would ask for at least something with 1500m 2000m of Airport runways.
other thing is the big buildings i love them but i find it rely hard to believe that a town with 3000 inhabitants has a building with over 40 floors i would like to see this buildings in towns with maybe 7000 or 8000 inhabitants but the script doesn’t´t let you do that It crashes the game every time i try to correct it.
i would love an option of different initial streets so the AI builds different roads rather than the doll medium street of 18m and the smaller street of 12m you could do this just by separating depot and stations roads from the ones that the AI uses to expand the city i tried to solve this, the problem is every time i do it the depots and station don´t work anymore.
other bug i found is the signalling the trains get so confused even when you properly build signals and tracks so every few minutes i have trains jammed up with passengers waiting in station and the efficiency of the railroads is reduced drastically by this.

last but not least I would love to have proper highways with connecting roads and roundabouts, there is mods outhere that do this but they lack realism and quality.
Proper tram roads to build Light rail systems, possibility of seeing trains when they are inside tunnels so you can make a metro system or just underground connections without losing sight of the trains, the fact that you can´t see the trains underground puts me off of building any underground systems.

Also recently a mod was launched that gives the possibility of building power lines this gave me the idea that the game would be more interesting if the town required things like electricity connections and water connections since this is mostly a game of building structures why not have more structures that the player was to build in order to please town demands.

I rely appreciate this game and i would love it to see it getting even better.
